Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ:

Greetings in the Precious Name of Jesus our Lord!

Indeed, God has been very faithful in our lives. He is the Supplier of everything that we need. He is truly a faithful God not only in our needs but also in the ministry. In the past year, the Lord had demonstrated His is love and provisions to the 2:7 Club. His faithfulness enabled the 2:7 Club members to go to places where the gospel needs to be preached as part of its regular quarterly evangelism. The 2:7 Club is a member organization of Hillside Christian Church Mission Outreach Ministry (HCC ”MOM”). It aims to support churches in remote areas by way of house to house evangelism, film showing, Bible Basketball, and Vacation Bible School for children.

In view of this task, the 2:7 Club remained committed to fulfill His calling. That is, to share the good news to places where He wants us to be. However, budget constraints are the problem of some members who are really willing and interested to respond to the call.

In this connection, we would like to solicit your benevolent support and be a part of the ministry of sharing the gospel to people who are lost in Christ. Your prayer and financial support is welcome and will be appreciated. Any amount that you will provide shall be used to cover foods, transportation and other incidental expenses related to the ministry.

2:7 Club 3rd Year Anniversary

On April 19, 2009, the 2:7 Club of Hillside Christian Church celebrated its 3rd year founding anniversary. During the celebration some members of the club testified before the congregation how the club help them in their spiritual lives. They learned how to study the books of the Bible, how to share the gospel, how to sing for the Lord, and even experience of going to places like Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro, Bato Catanduanes just to reach people who are lost in Christ. Also, some of them tesified that they feel great once an individual decided to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.

At present, the 2:7 Club meets every other saturday at 5:00 0' clock in the morning at Hillside Christian Church. And as a growing organization, it is committed to fulfill its mission to share the gospel through its quarterly evangelism program.

Philippines

In the last HCC Worship Service (June 21, 2009), Rev. Joseph C. Mauk, the church Senior Pastor took the lead in recognizing the fathers of the church. He said that, the children are blessed for having fathers in the home who are God fearing and God loving. More than fifty (50) fathers forwarded and received the tokens prepared by the ladies of the church

In relation to the Father’s Day, the 2:7 Club members went to Juliet Sumague’s place and had their fellowship with delicious “Adobong Manok na Tagalog” at “Nilagang Pata ng Baboy”. Everybody did enjoy the lunch and the “Adobong Manok” as well as the singing fellowship.

Many suggested that the 2:7 club fellowship be done every Father’s Day at Juliet Sumague’s place who earlier insisted that her place is open anytime for the group. Special Thanks for Mareng Juliet for her generosity.

Encouraging one another is one of the Apostle Paul’s greatest concern for every believer. That’s why he exhorts every believer not to forsake the assembling of themselves…..but to encourage one another (Heb. 10:25). Believing that gathering together is a great and effective means to encourage believers in Christ to continue in their walk with the Lord, Bowling Fellowship for men was given due consideration.

In view of this, Bowling Fellowship for men was held on June 12, 2009 at Rizal Re-Creation Center at Rizal, Laguna. This activity was designed to encourage men of the church to actively participate in every activities of the church especially in Bible Studies which is an effective tool for their spiritual growth and development. Forty (40) Young People, Young Men and Young Adult from HCC attended the fellowship. This fellowship was made possible through the all out support of HCC Senior Pastor and Rizal Re-Creation Center General Manager Rev. Joseph C. Mauk and wife Ruth Mauk.

The theme of the affair is “The men that play, praise and pray together, prosper forever”. In the said affair, all the participants did enjoy the game were Michael Almario, Demet Formales and Kenneth Calvento were the top three (3) winners. After the tournament, a bountiful merienda (“pasawaan”) was served courtesy of course by Ptr. and Mrs. Mauk.

During the Bible Hour, the first top three winners were given the privilege to share their testimonies. Demet Formales, one of the top winners stressed that playing bowling gave him a wonderful life application. He relates that every time he strikes the ball, he likened it to his personal life. That if he fails to strike the ball correctly, it will go to the canal so as his life will be ruined if he will live apart from the Lord . The other men who expressed their thankfulness and praises through testimonies are as follows: Bro. Lito Dorado, Kuya Romy Urrea, Ben Fodra, Bro. Nes Asacta, Bro. Eddie Asegurado and Bro. Frank Concordia.

Bro. Mon Ereve, one of the HCC leaders gave the message in relation to the theme, The Men that play, praise and play together, prosper forever. In his message, he encouraged the participants to seek God in prayer for in it according to him, you will be humbled and will gain power. Moreover, he urged the participants to pray more because he believed that seeking God will turn ones life into prosperity, not only in material thing but in eternity.

After the message, the participants were divided into two groups where each partners were given one prayer item for them to pray. Afterwards, they proceeded to the closing ceremony. Bro. Gani and YP Don hosted the program. To God be the Glory!

2:7 Club 2nd Quarterly Evangelism

HCC MISSIONS OUTREACH MINISTRY
REPORT

By: Bishop Gani Visey

The 2nd Quarterly Evangelism of the 2:7 Club was recently conducted in May 22, 200. It was held at Hillside Christian Church, Rizal, Laguna. Sharing the Good News and Thanksgiving Party are the main purpose of the said occasion. However, Awarding Ceremony of the recently concluded TODA Basketball League were also held. This event was attended by twenty-three (23) tricycle drivers from the community.

The event was very successful because of the support and prayers of the HCC Pastor, Rev. Joseph C. Mauk and wife Ruth Mauk as well as the members of HCC.
One of the exciting parts of the program that break the timidity of the guests were the games administered by the Bible Clubbers wherein all the participants did enjoy. While the games are being conducted, Vice-Mayor and MTFRB Chairman Hon. Tony A. Aurelio arrived and he too enjoyed the night. Bro. Boyet Isleta gave his song number then it was followed by Bro. Ramil Alimagno and Bro. Freddie Alcantara who shared their personal testimonies. While dinner was being served, Special Music was rendered by Bro. Bert Mondugar. Also, Bro. Peps Laroza gave his personal testimony then immediately after Ms. Alice Lareza rendered her two special songs.

The Gospel was effectively and clearly presented by Bro. Andam Asegurado through the use of Sketchboard. During the presentation, it was observed that all the guests were attentively listening to the message. After the presentation, the guests were divided into the number of HCC counselors for counseling of which only three (3) reported undecided, and sixteen (16) have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Personal Savior. The counselors gladly reported about the positive response of the people.

When the awarding ceremony was conducted, TODA Chairman Macky Corcega expressed his thanks to the Hillsiders for the support and cooperation they have shown during the tournament. On the other hand, Vice-Mayor and MTFRB Chairman Tony Aurelio commended the sportsmanship that every player had demonstrated during the tournament. He also expressed his thankfulness to the Hillside Christian Church for accommodating them especially in the holding of the awarding ceremony. He also promised the players of his 100% support in the next basketball tournament. Before the awards were conferred to the winning teams, Bro. Gani, the host of the program, stressed that the trophies that they would be receiving were only temporary things. Unlike the Eternal Gift that everyone had received. He also asked the guests to raise their hands to show that they have already responded to Jesus and accepted His invitation to accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior. Surprisingly, all the guests raised their hands.
When asked on what they can say, Herdie Lorico and Gilbert Pumar commented : “ we felt relieved just like a newly-born child”

This particular ministry would not be possible without the divine guidance of the Lord Jesus and warm support of the following: The Music Team, Ladies, Bible Clubbers, and other leaders of HCC. Overflowing joy have been seen in their faces as they gladly served the Lord. To God be the Glory!

HCC Missions Outreach Ministry
By: Bro. Gani Visey

The Missions Trip in the province of Catanduanes was made possible through the guidance and divine intervention of the Lord God Almighty, prayers and financial support of the brethren. It is also made possible because of our ever supportive Pastor Joe Mauk and wife Mrs. Mauk. The HCC Missions Outreach Ministry is composed of 22 members coming from the Bible Club Reachout, 2:7 Club and Ladies Fellowship. Due to Typhoon Dante, the trip incurred one (1) day delay. The group reached Virac, Catanduanes about 4:40 in the afternoon of May 5, 2009, Tuesday. It was Pastor Pidz Valenzuela of Living Stone Baptist Church of Catanduanes and wife Ate Nene who welcomed the group.

After the snacks, the ladies of the group went to “saud” (the marketplace) to buy food for the dinner. On the other hand, Pastor Pidz, Ate Nene, Nes and Bro. Gani discussed and formulated the schedule of activities. As a result, the Bible Vacation School, House to House Evangelism, Puppet Show and Film Showing would be the activities to be conducted at Living Stone Baptist Church of Catanduanes in the Municipality of Bato, Catanduanes.

Bato is a 5th class municipality in the province of Catanduanes, Philippines. According to the 2007 census, it has a population of 18,738 people in 3,497 households. Bato is politically subdivided into 27 barangays. Bato, the smallest of the eleven (11) municipalities of Catanduanes has a land area of 48.8 sq. km. or 4,880 ha. Bato is located at the southeastern portion of Catanduanes and is bounded on the north by the municipality of San Miguel; on the east by the greatest body of water, the Pacific Ocean; on the south by Cabugao Bay and on the west by Virac, the capital town of Catanduanes which is just 8 kilometers from Bato.

After the program planning, orientation meeting with the HCC VBS Teachers and LSBCC young people was conducted by Bro. Nes while Bro. Gani gave some announcements and details of the activities. Puppet practice followed after the meeting while some of the 2:7 club members went out for a swimming.

Day 1 (May 6, 2009), Wednesday

As early as 3:00 a.m. the ladies and other members of the 2:7 club prepared “Sopas” (soup) for the breakfast. The group left Moonwalk, Virac at exactly 6:30 a.m. to Bato, Catanduanes which is 8 kms. away. The group is provided with two (2) service vehicle by Ptr. Pidz.

About 8:00 a.m. when VBS formally started with 67 registrants. Pastor Pidz gave his opening and welcome remarks. Puppet Show was also conducted and Bro. Nes and Don hosted the program. On the other hand, the members of the 2:7 Club headed by Bro. Gani started their house to house evangelism with only few catches. On their way back to Virac, the vehicle driven by Pastor Pidz met some trouble where it lost its brake. However, the group reached the place when the motor automatically stopped in front of the house. To God be the glory! It was already 10:00 p.m. when the group returned at Moonwalk, Virac. Upon reaching the place, Bro. Gani prepared a letter request addressed to the Bato mayor requesting for a permit for the film showing on the following day.

Day 2 (May 7, 2009), Thursday

The VBS Teachers left the place ahead of the other group for the reason that the other vehicle would undergo repair. While waiting for the vehicle to be repaired, the 2:7 Club members made an evaluation concerning the evangelism conducted during the first day. It was observed that the group members experienced some discouragement due to the negative response of the people of Bato. Bro. Gani gave some words of encouragement and brought the matter in group prayer. When the second batch reached Bato, a good report was received. According to the report, after the counseling session the BVS students became attentive, responsive, cooperative, participative and alive. It was because Jesus Christ was already introduced and there was now a relationship to the Savior. 54 souls accepted the Lord Jesus Christ. To God be the glory!

Concerning the house to house evangelism, it was amazing! Although some responded negatively, God provided numbers of fish to catch. The discouragement felt by the members turned to excitement and overflowing joy because 37 souls came to know the Savior. However, the enemy was actively trying to prevent the furtherance of the ministry. The newly repaired vehicle driven by Pastor Pidz incurred tire blown out on their way to Bato. Praise God it happened just few meters away from the church.

In the afternoon, Pastor Pidz and Bro. Gani sought a Mayor’s Permit for the Film Showing. House to house invitation was made by team members. Again, the people responded negatively.

Puppet show started at 6:00 pm. Buboy Lachano and Yeye Vitangcol gave their testimonies. Don and Erwin did the Rope Trick and Sketch Board Presentation. A special number was rendered by all BVS students. Then Film Showing followed afterwards.

During the film showing members of the team commented that it would be difficult to have the counseling because people there are “come and go and demonstrated a feeling of disinterest”. Technical problems were also encountered. Moreover, there was a total black out in the area that prevented the people to leave the place. Aside from these problems probably it was God’s purpose to have a heavy rain so that the group could have the opportunity to share the Gospel. God is good and all things work together for good because 50 people got save during the film showing. The group reached the base about 10:00 in the evening for their dinner.

Day 3 (May 8, 2009), Friday

After finishing the lessons, BVS graduation immediately followed. Awards and Diploma or Certificate of Attendance were also awarded. It was about 3:00 p.m. when the group took their lunch. After some rest at Moonwalk, Virac, the group proceeded to Living Stone Baptist Church of Catanduanes in San Andres for a prayer meeting.

San Andres is a 4th class municipality in the province of Catanduanes. According to the 2007 census, it has a population of 33,781 people in 6,059 households. San Andres is politically subdivided into 38 barangays. San Andres is 14 kms. away from Virac.

In spite of brown out in the area a warm fellowship was conducted with the members of the church including the members of the YWAM (Youth With a Mission). A short devotion was given by Bro. Gani with the title “We Must Speak the Truth Even if the People Responded Negatively for that is our Mandate; to preach the Gospel”. That evening also served as a closing ceremony where Pastor Pidz gave his message thanking all those who supported them in the ministry including the HCC. It is where the Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to HCC. It was 11:00 p.m. when the group reached Virac for their dinner.

Day 4 (May 9, 2009), Saturday

Saturday was a parting moment. But before it happened the group had an opportunity to roam around the town proper to buy some “pasalubong” (presents) and to see the beauty of the Virac. At 10:00 a.m. the group proceeded to Barangay Calatagan, Virac, where Emily’s sister resides. There the group had their lunch where they did enjoy a super delicious “humba”. The word “paalam” (goodbye) is indeed a hard word to utter. But the members of the team had to say this. And the people of Catanduanes tearfully say: “Goodbye, sana bumalik kayo” (Goodbye, hope you will come back).

In the recently concluded HCC Missions Outreach Ministry, 150 people came to know the Lord Jesus Christ. And the breakdown are as follows:
54 - Bible Vacation School; 50 - Film Showing 46 - House to house Evangelism

This ministry would not become possible without the divine guidance and intervention of the God Almighty. To Him be the glory. Special thanks to all who prayed and supported this ministry. God Bless you All!
