DUNSMEAR BAND @ HCC

July 11, 2009 was a great evening for the youth of Rizal because they had an opportunity to see DUNSMEAR BAND performed in person. There are about more than 200 people mostly high school students from Cristobal S. Conducto MNHS in Rizal who watched the concert. In an interview, Luke Hagberg, spokeman and member of the band said they used “Impact Night” as the title of the concert because the main objective of the members of the band is to have a good impact to the people and in the community through Christian Music. He added that DUNSMEAR BAND has just organized only a year ago. The group is composed of five (5) members who are in 12th grade in Faith Academy namely: Jay Eyestone: vocalist, guitarist; Nathan Santos: backup guitarist; Ben Chanco: bass guitar; Luke Hagberg: drums and Nate Eyestone: Sound Tech.

When asked why they chose Rizal as a venue of their concert, Luke made mentioned that they were just having their Summer Camp at Rizal Re-Creation Center and they just wanted to be of the Lord’s service during the weekend so they talked to Rev. Joe C. Mauk, HCC Senior Pastor if they could be allowed to have their concert at HCC. He also added that Ptr. Mauk gladly welcomed their proposal. DUNSMEAR BAND formally started with HCC Music Team who sung the preliminary songs. Kris Luwi Isleta and Shirley Formales, Bible Club leaders hosted the program. While the band members were on their break, Ivan Zarzua, another HCC Bible Club leader shared the Word of God.

HCC Mission Sunday

For the HCC family June 28, 2009 became a Mission Sunday. This is what Rev. Joseph C. Mauk, HCC Senior Pastor statement before he introduced the guest speaker on that particular Sunday. He added that we did not plan for it but it happened because of the divine intervention of the God Almighty.

The reason why this Sunday became a mission Sunday because Bro. Bong Visey of Campus Crusade For Christ and an HCC supported missionary visited and gave the update about his ministry. Aside from his verbal reports, he also conducted a slide presentation concerning their ministry. He also reported the activities of student leaders in every campus in Metro Manila entitled “The First Six Weeks of Classes”. Students leaders that are involved in this ministry are as follows: Student Leaders from University of Santo Tomas (UST) that conducted kicked-off with prayer and fasting, and team building activity for UST-CCC; Student Leaders in Philippine Christian University (PCU) where they assisted in the University Freshmen Orientation as ushers and “skitters”; In Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), they served as tour guides for the freshmen; Student Leaders in Rizal Technological University (RTU) offered tutorial sessions; Student Leaders in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLM) where they initiated the preparation of a simple illustration to help them initiate conversations. According to Bro. Bong Visey, God is moving in and through the lives of these young leaders. He is very thankful for the privilege of coaching them. He also expressed his thanks to HCC family for their faithful partnership. Bro. Visey visited HCC with his father Felix Visey.
Another exciting news on that Sunday was the ministry update sent in by HCC supported Missionary in Indonesia, Ucok and Elsa which was read by Bro. Gani. In their report, Ucok and Elsa shared the goodness of the Lord in their mission trip in West Kalimantan. According to the report, the mission trip was exciting in spite of some hardships, long distance (8km) walk and rain showers in the middle of the jungle. They added that “to hear them pray repenting and inviting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior was indeed very encouraging”. Though not really familiar with Bahasa, Resil and Reuben who have just arrived from the Philippines eagerly shared the gospel. Reuben known for being a football game expert, used the game in order to get the attention of the people, and from this game 13 of them professed to receive Jesus. Christ as their Savior. A total of 193 people were saved according to the report. To God be the glory!

Truly it was an exciting Sunday because it was Ptr. Godfrey P. Santonil of Mindanao Christ’s Gospel Fellowship in Cagayan de Oro City was the one who gave the message. According to Rev. Joseph C. Mauk, he chose Ptr. Godfrey to speak on mission because according to him Ptr. Godfrey was an expert in church planting which he proved in his testimony during the luncheon fellowship at RRC.
In his message, Ptr. Godfrey made mention that missionary work implies four things such as, cooperation on the part of the members of the sending church, continuation where the support must be continuous, communion with the Lord in prayers, and communication wherein the members are responsible to have a close communication with the missionary.

At the end of the service, Ptr. Roland Maranan was commissioned to work as a pastor in one of the HCC supported churches in Ranzo, Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro. The commissioning service was initiated by Rev. Joseph C. Mauk, assisted by HCC leaders and their wives, other guest pastors like Charles Madden, John Abraham of Word of Life Institute and other members and Missionary Bong Visey. The commissioning prayer was made by Ptr. Godfrey P. Santonil.

Indeed, God has been very faithful in our lives. He is the Supplier of everything that we need. He is truly a faithful God not only in our needs but also in the ministry. In the past year, the Lord had demonstrated His is love and provisions to the 2:7 Club. His faithfulness enabled the 2:7 Club members to go to places where the gospel needs to be preached as part of its regular quarterly evangelism. The 2:7 Club is a member organization of Hillside Christian Church Mission Outreach Ministry (HCC ”MOM”). It aims to support churches in remote areas by way of house to house evangelism, film showing, Bible Basketball, and Vacation Bible School for children.

In view of this task, the 2:7 Club remained committed to fulfill His calling. That is, to share the good news to places where He wants us to be. However, budget constraints are the problem of some members who are really willing and interested to respond to the call.

In this connection, we would like to solicit your benevolent support and be a part of the ministry of sharing the gospel to people who are lost in Christ. Your prayer and financial support is welcome and will be appreciated. Any amount that you will provide shall be used to cover foods, transportation and other incidental expenses related to the ministry.
